Are you a designer junkie or a bargain-hunter?

I go to designer stores rarely as they’ll convince me to buy something that looks great but which I only end up wearing once – so I’ve spent a shit load of money and it then sits in my closet.  The designer wear I’ve got more than anything of is Paul Smith, because his style has this really delicate type of sharpness.  Most of the rest is vintage stuff.

What is the biggest style error a man can make?

Socks.  I think that if your socks are off, especially with a suit,  it can be such a big mistake.  For some reason, I always have good socks.  Good being something that matches what you’re wearing, but also doesn’t match.  That means they compliment, but stand out on their own as well.  A lot of celebrities do TV interviews and when they sit down in the chair and the pant leg raises its shocking. 

And there’s the shoes, of course….

Yes,  Actually, I’ve got a big female foot fetish, a pedicure is always in my repertoire, as is massaging the foot with olive oil.  I like seeing open-toed shoes so you’ve got shoe cleavage on the heel – that’s a big, big thing for me.  And then foot cleavage as well, which is when you can just see the tops of the toes exposed at the front of the shoe.  Watch out for women with one long toe that hangs over – that means she’s horny and aggressive in bed.

Your dad is a well-known TV weatherman.  Does he wear awful, patterned jumpers and tweed, like some of his contemporaries in Blighty?

No, he’s very sharp, very clean – he always wears suits and ties.  I think he has my mom to thank for that – if he had to choose outfits for himself it’d be disastrous.

What’s been your biggest fashion disaster?

A $30,000 mohair coat I was lent for an awards ceremony.  I looked like Chewbacca, man!  And there may be a couple of photos from the Eighties with me wearing parachute pants – the ones with all those zippers over them.  I was a big break dancer.  I could pop, but I couldn’t spin.

Your role involves a lot of martial arts – how many trouser crotches have you been through by kicking people in the head?

Oh, two or three.  There aren’t a lot of crotch shots so that’s not too bad.  But I do remember a couple of splits here and there that were a bit extreme.

You play a vampire, so are you banned from using sun beds?

Er, I don’t know – that’s a good question.  But it’s sunlight that would kill him so I guess artificial light would be okay.  So maybe he could go to the sun tanning salon to get a little sun.  I like that idea – I’m going to incorporate it next season.

You’ve worked as a valet and a towel boy.  Which had the worst uniform?

Definitely the towel boy.  I was in a white polo shirt and shorts with a bunch of egos coming in to work out being so rude.  I got fired after three weeks for kicking a door down.

What’s the most you’ve spent on a single garment?

It was a Shearling coat that was expensive and useless and did absolutely nothing but sit in a coat rack – still does to this day.  I might even  just cut it up and patch my couch with it – that’s how stupid it is!  And it cost probably close to $1,200.  That’s astronomical, man! It doesn’t get worn, it just sits there.  I look at it and go:  “What the hell did I do that for?”  I could have had part of my house done for that amount of money!

Rumor has it that a very well-dressed dog resides in the Boreanaz household?

A very well dressed dog.  There’s a boutique in LA called Fifi and Romeo and I think their clothes for animals are outstanding.  They supply for my wife’s Chihuahua – it’s decked out in cashmere jumpers and hats.  I know it seems strange, but then Los Angeles is a circus.  They have changing rooms for the dog and everything.  You can have a glass of wine and shop for your dog.

Is it true you once suffered a serious fashion injury?

Yeah, when I was in college I pierced my ear and it swelled up and got infected.  A friend of mine did it – I was probably in a drunken stupor.  I had to go to the hospital to get it lanced.   It was a mess – the lobe was like a golf ball.

Finally, the two most important questions.  Exactly how was kissing Sarah Michelle Gellar?

We were both very respectful of our situation and there was no tongue involvement whatsoever.

And why are you afraid of chickens?

Because birds are so unpredictable.  Their feathers and their *****iness makes them too jumpy.  They’re *****ing freaks.  They cluck and they jive in a freaky way and I don’t like it.
